PB&J French Toast

Chansons de Le Chef et Le Chat

Happy Little Sunbeam -

Chet Baker, Russ Freeman, Art Pepper, Stan Getz

When breakfast is carbs with sugar on top, I feel like it is important to pick a song that makes you dance while you cook. Something bouncy but calm enough to wake up to.

Not every dish has to be spectacular to be amazing. Peanut butter and jelly on French toast? What could go wrong?

Ingredients:

  • Sandwich Bread

    • Brioche is best, but any sandwich bread would work

  • Peanut Butter

  • Jelly

  • Eggs

  • Whole milk

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

  • Vanilla

  • Sweetness

    • Sugar

    • Condensed Milk

    • Honey

    • Syrup

  • Butter

  • Maple Syrup

Consider adding:

  • Heavy cream

  • Fruit/Berries

  • Powdered Sugar

  • Different Nut Butter / Crunchy

  • Different Jelly

  • Bacon

  • Pretzels

Instructions:

  1. Make a PB&J

  2. Mix eggs, milk, spices, and sweetener in a container that will fit your bread size.

  3. Submerge until it is moist and absorbed

  4. Sear on a medium heat with melted butter, slowly, to ensure that the innards are gooey

  5. Enjoy!

I’ll be honest, this recipe is about as low effort as it gets. It does not take a genius to make such art like this, but I will admit that this is still great. I’m trying to incorporate everyday meals because when I woke up this morning I had 0 desire to make anything healthy or involved. That being said, this recipe is a great way to slowly start experimenting in the kitchen. When you start with the basics there is nowhere else to go but up.

Thanks for letting me slide with this one ;)
